Yesterday I Saw a Lion Kiss a Dear
…don’t you dare let our best memories bring you sorrow
Yesterday I saw a lion kiss a deer
Turn the page, maybe we’ll find a brand new ending
Where we’re dancing in our tears…
Hello Dear Readers, I’m Finally Breaking The Silence On My Blog.
For such an occasion, nothing could be more absolutely fitting than to present one of the most beautiful songs and live recordings ever.
Gregg Alexander – Lost Stars (lyrics below)
The song ‘Lost Stars’ along with Gregg Alexander’s life, music, and career choices are so very close to my heart because of my own life experiences and due to my daily considerations about the state of things in our world, chiefly concerning the multitude of ‘lost stars’ which we are all either part of, or by the grace of God redeemed from. The concept of us all being stars/stardust, both in the spiritual sense as well as scientific, for indeed both are truly one in the same, is one I’ve passionately studied out and have written essays about; essays which I eagerly look forward to releasing as blog posts here in the near future.
This song is also so very close in poetic style and feeling (as are other songs by Gregg) to my own writings/songs that this song actually feels as if I wrote it.
Furthermore, due to circumstances leading to my fiance’ leaving me, I relate well to the lyrics expressed in the song about wanting to be seen for more than “just a boy caught up in dreams and fantasies” while “reaching out for someone I can’t see” as well as other such lines in the song as, “I’ll be damned, Cupid’s demanding back his arrow”, …Definitely, it’s the context of the whole song in which those lines lie coupled with my life struggles which give them heavier meaning far beyond the mere obvious sentiments of unrequited love. As a visionary and entrepreneur, my experience has been that finding a partner who will believe in me and my work is nothing short of a miracle! Well, I’ll save the details for my autobiography, but suffice it to say that I thought she was that miracle who could understand me and believe in me enough to brave the dark until we could enjoy the light at the end of the tunnel together.
But, no, she choose to ignore that ‘we are all lost stars searching for meaning’ while not believing me when I told her, “yesterday I saw a lion kiss a deer”.
And I thought I saw you out there crying
And I thought I heard you call my name
And I thought I heard you out there crying
But are we all lost stars trying to light up the dark?
Are we all lost stars trying to light up the dark?
My discovering this song while dealing with her leaving me is serendipitous enough to be sure, but even more so is the timing of the song’s release which also coincides with my relaunching of this site, since it also coincides with my success as an entrepreneur – ohh the wheels within the wheels…
After a 15-year hiatus away from publishing weekly/daily journal entries also known as ‘web logs’ or ‘weblogs’ (before the Pyra folks who started www.blogger.com coined the term ‘blogs‘; or at least commercialized and capitalized on it), I am finally breaking proscenium to lay bare bare my life, heart, and soul to the world again here on www.brentchristian.com in daily, or at least weekly updated journalistic form. Brace yourselves ~
After a 15-year long hiatus from the lime-light, Gregg emerged to bring attention to a John Carney film which he worked to write ‘Lost Stars’ specifically for. The film, originally titled Can a Song Save Your Life? and re-titled Begin Again for it’s theatrical release, tells a love story between working musicians and was written around the featured song ‘Lost Stars’ with both main characters Kiera Knightly and Adam Levine preforming versions of it…
Here is the 1st interview Gregg has given in 15 years:

Please don’t see
Just a boy caught up in dreams and fantasies
Please see me
Reaching out for someone I can’t see
Take my hand, let’s see where we wake up tomorrow
Best laid plans sometimes are just a one night stand
I’ll be damned, Cupid’s demanding back his arrow
So let’s get drunk on our tears
And God, tell us the reason youth is wasted on the young
It’s hunting season and the lambs are on the run
Searching for meaning
But are we all lost stars trying to light up the dark?
Who are we?
Just a speck of dust within the galaxy?
Woe is me
If we’re not careful turns into reality
But don’t you dare let our best memories bring you sorrow
Yesterday I saw a lion kiss a deer
Turn the page, maybe we’ll find a brand new ending
Where we’re dancing in our tears
And God, tell us the reason youth is wasted on the young
It’s hunting season and the lambs are on the run
We’re searching for meaning
But are we all lost stars trying to light up the dark?
and I thought I saw you out there crying
and I thought I heard you call my name
and I thought I heard you out there crying
But just the same
And God, give us the reason youth is wasted on the young
It’s hunting season and this lamb is on the run
searching for meaning
But are we all lost stars trying to light up the dark?
And I thought I saw you out there crying
And I thought I heard you call my name
And I thought I heard you out there crying
But are we all lost stars trying to light up the dark?
Are we all lost stars trying to light up the dark?
